Terms of service

Plain-language summary

• Lumen is software you pay for. We bill $20 per month or $149 per year. You can cancel anytime.
• You bring your own API keys for AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, xAI). Those providers bill you separately. Lumen does not mark up or proxy their costs.
• You own everything you create with Lumen. Your prompts, your generated content, your workspace data.
• Do not use Lumen to build something illegal, to attack other systems, or to harass people. Standard "be a decent user" stuff.
• The service is provided as-is. We work hard to keep it running but cannot guarantee zero downtime. If we drop the ball, your refund is bounded by what you paid us.
• The detailed terms below are the legally operative version if anything in the summary conflicts with them.

1. Who we are

"Lumen", "we", "us", "our" refers to the operator of lumendev.net. "You" or "Customer" refers to the person or entity using the service.

2. The service

Lumen is a prompt-architect workbench. It helps you compose prompts for AI agents and stores your workspaces, threads, and configuration. The actual AI inference happens on the providers you connect (via API key). Lumen mediates; it does not replace the providers.

3. Account

You are responsible for keeping your password and API keys confidential. You agree to provide accurate information at signup and to keep your contact email current. You may not share a single account across multiple individuals or organizations beyond reasonable team use.

4. Payment

• Monthly plan: $20 USD per month, billed monthly via Stripe.
• Annual plan: $149 USD per year, billed annually via Stripe. Optional installment payment via Klarna, Afterpay, or Affirm at checkout.
• You can cancel anytime from the Billing page. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access for that period.
• We do not refund partial periods. If your account is involuntarily terminated due to a violation of these terms, no refund is owed.
• Trial: 14 days free, no card required. After the trial, you must subscribe to continue using paid features. Workspaces and data remain readable for 30 days after trial end before deletion.

5. Your content

You own the prompts you write and the content you generate. Lumen claims no rights to your inputs or outputs. The AI providers you connect may apply their own terms to content sent through their APIs; review those separately.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Lumen to:

• Build, deploy, or distribute malware, spyware, or attack tools targeting third parties without authorization.
• Generate or distribute content that is illegal in your jurisdiction, including but not limited to CSAM, non-consensual intimate imagery, or material that promotes credible violence.
• Harass, stalk, or threaten individuals.
• Circumvent rate limits, billing, or access controls.
• Resell or sublicense access to Lumen without a separate written agreement.

We may terminate your account immediately if we observe a credible violation. We may report illegal activity to authorities.

7. Service availability

Lumen is provided on a commercially reasonable best-effort basis. We do not commit to a specific uptime SLA. We may interrupt the service for maintenance, security incidents, or operational reasons. Where practical we give advance notice.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Lumen is provided "as is" and "as available". To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. AI outputs may be incorrect, biased, or unsafe; you are responsible for reviewing them before acting.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lumen's total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid Lumen in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) US $100. Lumen is not liable for indirect, consequential, special, or punitive damages.

10. Changes

We may update these terms. If we make material changes we will notify you by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use after that period constitutes acceptance.

11. Termination

You may cancel your account at any time via the Billing page or by contacting support. We may terminate your account for material breach of these terms with notice when practical. On termination, your access ends; deletion of your data happens per our Privacy policy.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in Sarasota County, Florida.
